HORIZON EUROPE FUNDING PROGRAM
"Innovative Actions"

In this work a New Housing Renovation prototype in Zaragoza Spain will be proposed with three main objectives. In first place, the energy efficiency of the building providing the user a better thermal comfort inside with less energy. As a second aspect, environmental care with the implementation of renewable energies. Finally, the social contribution facing the problem of loneliness that currently exists especially for elder people, providing an exterior common space between neighbors through the gallery system. For the design, Lacaton & Vassal projects and some research initiatives from other Universities were considered as references for developing this sustainable architecture project.
For testing the prototype, one of the buildings of the Alferez Rojas neighborhood located on the West of the city has been taken as an example for the before and after simulation of the system application in the Design Builder tool. This work will be part of one of the cases to be developed in the Care + project which will be carried out in the MADC studio with the collaboration of Zaragoza University, Tampere University, Delf University and University of Navarra to participate in the Horizon Europe Program Funds on the Innovative Actions category. The aim of this investigation is to have an effective building system prototype that can be applied to different rehabilitation projects all around Europe in similar climate zones, looking forward for a better sustainable future.
